I made my first show garden, called Somerset Revival, at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2002. I won a silver-gilt medal for the garden!
Featuring an old Somerset barn and cider press, the garden had a theme of rural regeneration, with the structure of the barn going from dilapidation to renovation.
The planting, in deep blues and soft yellows, used wild and cultivated forms of the same species to emphase the theme.
Making show gardens is totally addictive!
I'm creating the Bradstone's garden at the RHS Hampton Court flower show 2008, called the Traveller's Garden, and also working on a large garden for Chelsea 2010 to showcase the flora and culture of a remote region of Transylvania — watch this space!
